The Lundström brothers

The Lundström exhibition The exhibition in the entrence deals with the Lundström brothers, Johan and Carl, who founded the Jönköping match industry. The two brothers mechanised the process, making the match cheap enough for everyone to use. The Swedish safety match was to become an export article and Jönköping the match capital of the world.

Lena - match industrial worker

Lena Törnqvist Large numbers of people have worked for the Jönköping match company. Lena is one of them, a sad destiny for a woman in a period of transition between the old and the emerging society. Lena was hit by phosphorus necrosis, an ailment caused by working with the phosphorus. Being affected by the phosphorus necrosis Lena was no longer fit to work in the factory.
